As previously announced, the Archbishop of Cebu, His Excellency Msgr. Jose Palma D.D., offered Solemn Pontifical Mass for the Feast of the Annunciation on March 26, 2012. To our knowledge this is his first public Mass according to the 1962 Missal, and only the fifth Solemn Pontifical Mass to be celebrated in the Philippines by a bishop in a canonically regular situation since Summorum Pontificum came into effect in 2007. (Msgr. Camilo Gregorio, Prelate of Batanes, and Msgr. Antonio Tobias, Bishop of Novaliches, have previously celebrated two Solemn Pontifical Masses each, in addition to a number of Low or Sung Masses. A few other bishops have also celebrated Low Masses.)

Our congratulations to the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate and to the Traditional Catholic community in Cebu on this historic event.
