Canon Moreau's first visit to the Philippines (Feb. 6 - 12, 2012)

Below is the full video of the Solemn High Mass that Canon Moreau celebrated in Holy Family Parish of the Diocese of Cubao -- the current home of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Joseph - Una Voce Philippinensis -- on February 12, 2012. With the permission of the ecclesiastical authorities, this parish celebrates its annual patronal feast on the Second Sunday of February. As such the Mass was a Votive Mass of the Holy Family (1st Class) despite that Sunday being Sexagesima Sunday in the calendar of the 1962 Missal. The Mass was served by the corps of servers of the Societas and the chants were sung by the Choro Sancti Joseph.

A priest of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest to visit the TLM communities in the Philippines

Canon Jean Marie Moreau, a priest of the Institute of Christ the King - Sovereign Priest (a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right founded in 1990 and dedicated entirely to the celebration of the sacred liturgy according to the pre-Vatican II liturgical books) will be in the Philippines from February 5 to 12 to visit the different Traditional Latin Mass communities all around the country.

The following is the schedule of his non-private Masses (all according to the 1962 Missal) and talks:

Feb 7 (Tuesday)

Congratulations to Mr. Anthony Uy FSSP!

Una Voce Philippines congratulates Mr. Anthony Uy FSSP on his ordination to the subdiaconate last week in the FSSP seminary in Denton, Nebraska! 

Mr. Uy was born and raised in the Philippines before moving to Canada. As an FSSP seminarian he visited the Philippines in 2007 and 2008 and sang at Traditional Latin Masses in the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy and the St. Jerome Emiliani Parish in Ayala, Alabang.

Here's where the new home of our Traditional Latin Mass is located.

Beginning tomorrow, January 19, 2012, the 8:30 A.M. TLM on weekdays and Saturdays will be held here. The regular Sunday Missa Cantata according to the 1962 Missal will also be held here beginning next Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the usual time of 2:00 P.M.

Our new home: Holy Family Parish

Beginning January 19, Thursday, the daily (and Sunday) Traditional Latin Mass in Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy will be transferred to the much bigger Holy Family Parish (see above) in Roxas District, Quezon City. This is due to the assignment of our chaplain, Fr. Michell Joe Zerrudo, as the new pastor of Holy Family Parish. 

The schedule will continue to be the same: weekday TLM's at 8:30 A.M. and the Sunday Mass at 2:00 P.M. 

The information at the sidebar and on WikkiMissa will be updated in the next few days. Directions will also be posted. I also hope to be able to finish a post on our Advent and Christmas Masses and events. 

Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy -- "PLDM" -- served as refuge for the Traditional Latin Mass from late 2006 (when Summorum Pontificum was but a rumor) until this month. The last regular Sunday TLM was offered today and the last weekday TLM will be offered there on January 18. This parish was the scene of some of the Traditional Latin Mass movement's greatest joys and triumphs and it will forever remain in our memories and prayers.

Corona attends last of novena Masses at SC Saturday

MANILA, Philippines—Beseeching Heaven’s assistance in Latin, supporters of Chief Justice Renato Corona held a Tridentine Mass at the Supreme Court on Saturday, the last of novena of Masses for the beleaguered head of the judiciary. 

Corona attended the Latin Mass late Saturday afternoon with his wife and more than 100 supporters, including former Philippine Commission on Good Government chief Camilo Sabio. 

When asked after the Mass about the World Bank report finding mismanagement and questionable disbursements from a World Bank loan for a judicial reform program, Corona said: “It’s hard to answer that because I haven’t read it.” 

The report was dated Dec. 28, 2011. 

Corona also said that he had yet to decide whether to attend the opening of his impeachment trial in the Senate on Monday. 

Asked again about the World Bank report that proceeds of the WB loan were used by Supreme Court justices to pay a travel agency of lawyer Estelito Mendoza, Corona said, “I haven’t read that. You are forcing me to answer.” He then went up the stairs into the Supreme Court building.

The priest who offered the Mass was Fr. Dominic Lim OFMConv.

In the Philippines, the "separation of Church and State" is interpreted more loosely than in the United States, and it is common for Masses to be held in government offices for special occasions or events as well as during First Fridays.
